Michelle (Michal) Miller
Ms. Miller is the Democracy Council Program Officer.
Prior to working with the Democracy Council, Ms. Miller was a project coordinator for the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Her projects were joint Israeli-Palestinian based.
Ms. Miller’s governmental experience includes working as a Parliamentary Assistant for English Affairs to a former Deputy Speaker of the Knesset; she was responsible for the Deputy Speaker’s correspondences and publications in English.
Additionally, Ms. Miller was a member of an Israeli human rights organization monitoring the interactions between the Israeli military and Palestinian civilians at checkpoints in the West Bank.
Ms. Miller worked in Belfast, Northern Ireland with the first Sinn Fein Lord Mayor. She was invited along with a Palestinian colleague to learn from the Belfast experience of how to manage a divided city. During this time she consulted with local NGOs and government officials.
As a leader in her community she is part of the Hunt Foundation’s Women Waging Peace Network. Through this organization she has participated in a training program at Harvard University in Women and Security and has been on several public speaking engagements regarding her work.
Ms. Miller received a B.A. in International Studies, area study Middle East, and Women’s Studies from The Ohio State University, and is finishing her M.A. in International Relations, Diplomacy and Foreign Policy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
