Books to Baghdad: The Democracy Council delivers UCLA-donated books to Iraq
For Immediate Release 11-10-04
The Democracy Council, along with the University of California, Los Angeles, and the US Departments of Defense and State, completed a shipment of nearly 5,000 library books bound for Iraqi schools. The books, donated by UCLA, were escorted by Democracy Council staff to March Air Reserve Base early this week and will be distributed in Iraq to schools. Drained by decades of war, sanctions and oppressive dictatorship, schools around Iraq are in desperate need of books to expand their students' education. Democracy Council is proud to play an important part in filling this need.
