Jodi Finkel

Jodi Finkel is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Loyola Marymount University. She investigates human rights, supreme courts, and the rule of law in Latin America and has conducted research in Argentina, Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador. Dr. Finkel has published several articles and a book on judicial reform and has presented her work in the United States, Latin America and Europe.
Dr. Finkel is a founder of MuJER, a literacy and vocational training program for sex workers in Guatemala’s red light district (www.mujer.cfsites.org). She is also the president of a non-profit that brings young people from around the world to volunteer in the community in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2001 and also holds a Masters in International Affairs from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Finkel worked in Latin America as a business consultant and journalist.
